Code Talkers book review

Filed under: Uncategorized —— thayden @ 10:10 am

The novel Code Talkers is about an Indian boy named Kii Yazhi. The book talks about how he goes to an American boarding school, and the teachers tell him to forget about their sacared Navajo Language,  the American way is better. Later on in the book Kii Yazhi joined the marines. While he was in the Marines they wanted a new code talker to send messages back and fourth down the line of duty. So that’s when the Navajo Indians had to become the new code talkers. They had to become code talkers because the Marines wanted to use their sacared language so that the Japanese couldn’t figure out what they are saying. This book is good because it teaches you to never give up, to never forget where you come from. What I have learned form the book is to always stand your ground. In the book, Kii Yazhi stood his ground, and didn’t listen to the American teachers when they told him to forget about his language. Then his language was important in  fighting in War World Two.

quotation assignments

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president. He also led his country through the American Civil War. He said this quote because if we all don’t work together, then our Country is going to fall and we are going to fall with it. If we don’t work together, then we will lose our freedoms and some other country will come and take over our country. I pick this quote because if we all don’t work together, then our kids and grandchildren won’t have a good life or good country.
Abraham Lincoln
